Canceled the appointment with them and they did not release the hold they placed on your credit card. No one answers their phone in the billing department and still no call back. Then a couple of days later I was charged another $175 dollars. Will be filing a dispute with the bank. Will not be rescheduling with them again.

WellPsyche: The Spirit Airlines of Psychiatry

It’s been nearly a year since my last appointment at WellPsyche. Please know that it has taken all that time (with drastic measures and a change of providers) for me to be able provide feedback. I needed to undo all the “help” I paid for at WellPscyche.

If you’re reading this, please consider protecting yourself from WellPsyche. After working with the provider from 07/2022 - 01/2023, my medication roster grew from two medications to eight. Eight. 8. I was 28. In my heart, I believe the Nurse was well-intentioned, albeit naive to the complexity of my struggle.

Either way, it’s scary to know that I was suffering so much that I was willing to pay for all of this “help” - even out of pocket. Needless to say, I have been committed to healing and managing the symptoms of my diagnosis. And that’s why I need to write this. I don’t want my experience to go under the radar.

WellPsyche is predatory. I wish I could think of a less severe term… but I can’t. And it’s not fair to blame the healthcare or mental healthcare systems or the provider for WellPsyche’s traumatizing policies and billing practices.

Let me be clear: WellPsyche is a corporate business. They do business. They do not do care. They do not have polices in place that demonstrate they care about the patient. Naturally, they care about insurance and credit cards but I highly doubt this “healthcare office” has a strong understanding of individuals with mental healthcare needs. WellPsyche is increases their profit due to policies that prey on patients’ struggles. They have a perfect target population: people who are seeking help because their medical conditions make it challenging to function on a day-to-day basis.

WellPsyche has targeted the ideal demographic for profit. Rather sinister, when you think about it.

Regardless of WellPsyche’s “affiliation” with the medical field, I want to reflect on the most critical part of this review. I didn’t appreciate the astronomically large bills I was invoiced for the harm (not care) I received. For instance, if you needed a note or supporting document from your provider, please know they will force you to call and make an appointment so you can watch your provider fill out the forms over Zoom (easy $200 for WellPsyche). I did not appreciate the circus tricks I’d have to perform if I wanted to schedule an appointment. After calling the line and listening to the prompts, you typically had to request a callback - and if you missed the callback, you had to take the loss and start over. This was wildly inefficient and stressful as a patient, heaven forbid you have a negative reaction to a medication* or you get in some predicament and you need to urgently reschedule. Sometimes it’d be 24 hours before I could talk to someone…to schedule.

And that is probably the most egregious thing. Before every appointment, WellPsyche places a $400 hold on your card in the event you “no show.”

It’s like they know people who struggle with mental illness might have times in their life in which it feels insurmountably challenging to maintain consistency, much less get out of bed (hence why they are seeking help). This translates into easy money for WellPsyche. Your 8:30 am wake up struggle is their profit. And what’s more? Is someone going to be that motivated to call back and get the help they need, given how complicated WellPsyche’s processes are? Let alone how shaming and expensive this policy is?

WellPsyche is the epitome of greed. People who are on the brink of their last thread come here desperately and sincerely searching for relief. WellPsyche saw that urgent struggle and created the most inefficient, lackluster, and grossly convoluted policies to drag us along — all the while they are picking up every dollar they can, regardless of an individual’s darkest pain.

People like me want help. But places like WellPsyche make it obvious that we don’t deserve help. At the end of the day, our struggles pay for WellPsyche’s rent. And I hope every cent has been helpful to their bottom line.

Advertise they accept your insurance, then after your first appointment, they slap you with an almost $400 bill and say your insurance isn't in network. For anyone struggling to see a doctor, don't waste your time and energy here. You'll end up finding a different service anyway.

Confusing enrollment / appointment processes, filled out "same day" outreach form and they have not contacted me in over three weeks, charged me $500 without rendering any services. Absolutely ridiculous.
